 Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was the ninth Guru of the Sikhs and one of the most revered martyrs in Sikh history. Here's a brief overview of his life and contributions:

Birth: April 1, 1621, in AMRITSAR  ( PUNJAB )


He was originally named Tyag Mal, but after showing great valor in battle, he was given the title Tegh Bahadur (meaning "Brave of the Sword").



Spiritual Journey:


Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji spent many years in meditation and spiritual study.


He traveled across India spreading the message of peace, compassion, and devotion to God.


He composed many hymns that are included in the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy scripture.



Becoming the Ninth Guru:



In 1664, after the death of Guru Har Krishan Ji, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was appointed as the ninth Sikh Guru.



Martyrdom and Legacy:


During the reign of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, there was forced conversion of Hindus to Islam.


A group of Kashmiri Pandits sought help from Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.


Guru Ji stood up for freedom of religion and human rights, even though he was not a Hindu himself.


He was arrested in Delhi and asked to convert to Islam. He refused and was publicly beheaded on November 24, 1675, at Chandni Chowk, Delhi.


His martyrdom is remembered as a sacrifice for the freedom of belief and expression.

Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi marks the site of his martyrdom.


Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib marks the site where his body was cremated.
