Bhagat Parmanand was a devout Vaishnav Bhakta, a worshipper of Lord Vishnu (especially in the form of Krishna).

He strongly believed in bhakti (devotion) as the supreme path to God. He practiced Nama Simran (remembrance of God's Name) and advocated the constant remembrance of the Divine through heartfelt devotion rather than empty rituals.

Opposition to Ritualism:

Despite being born a Brahmin, Parmanand Ji opposed ritualistic practices and caste-based superiority. He emphasized inner purity, humility, and love for God as the true spiritual path.

( One of his key messages is )

“O Parmanand, chant the Name of the Lord, O my mind. Without the Name, all rituals are hollow.”

(Guru Granth Sahib, Ang 1253)

This shows his rejection of blind rituals and his focus on inner devotion.

Contribution to Guru Granth Sahib:

Only 1 hymn by Bhagat Parmanand Ji is included in the Guru Granth Sahib (Ang 1253). Despite its brevity, the hymn reflects deep spiritual insight, humility, and yearning for union with the Divine.

Legacy:

Bhagat Parmanand Ji's inclusion in the Guru Granth Sahib affirms the Sikh principle that spiritual wisdom transcends caste, religion, and background.

His teachings align closely with Sikh values: Naam Simran, rejection of empty rituals, and devotional living.
