Bhagat Sen Ji – The Devoted Barber Who Served the Divine
Bhagat Sen Ji was one of the fifteen revered Bhagats whose hymns are included in the Guru Granth Sahib Ji. He was a humble barber by profession but rose to spiritual greatness through his sincere devotion, humility, and service to God,
Early Life and Background:
Bhagat Sen Ji lived during the 14th–15th century in Rewa, in Madhya Pradesh, India.
He belonged to the Nai (barber) caste, which was considered low in the Hindu caste system.
Despite social limitations, Sen Ji was deeply spiritual and practiced Bhakti (devotional worship) from a young age.

Bhagat Sen Ji was a disciple of Saint Ramananda Ji, a leading Bhakti movement saint.

Famous Story:
According to tradition, Bhagat Sen Ji used to serve saints and sadhus, often at the cost of his own royal clients.
One day, when a king's shave was delayed due to Sen serving a holy man, the king became angry. But when the king realized Sen's dedication to saints and God, he honored Sen Ji instead of punishing him, recognizing his spiritual greatness.

One hymn by Bhagat Sen Ji is included in the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, in Raag Ramkali.
His hymn expresses complete surrender to the Lord and joy in spiritual freedom.
