Bhatt Nal – A Devotional Poet of the Guru’s Glory
Bhatt Nal (also spelled Bhattan Nalh) was one of the eleven Bhatt poets whose verses are included in the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the holy scripture of Sikhism. These Bhatts were learned Brahmins who came to the Sikh Gurus seeking truth and spiritual fulfillment, and became deeply devoted followers.

Bhatt Nal lived during the time of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Guru of the Sikhs.
A scholar by background, he was spiritually transformed by the divine light of the Sikh Gurus. His poetry reflects both intellectual depth and spiritual realization, praising the Gurus not as mere teachers, but as divine beings.
Contribution to Guru Granth Sahib
One Swayya (a poetic verse) by Bhatt Nal is included in the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, under Raag Ramkali, in the section known as Bhatt Bani.
In this verse, he offers deep praise of the Guru’s spiritual greatness, declaring that the Guru alone can dispel the darkness of ego and illusion.
